HTC Touch Pro 2 is heading to Sprint

August 31st, 2009 23:57

Sprint users will finally have a chance to get their hands on one of the best Windows Mobile phone from HTC: the Touch Pro 2. HTC has improved upon its TouchFlo user interface to hide as much of Windows Mobile 6.1 as possible so that users can really enjoy the 3.6" WVGA (800x480) display. The Touch Pro 2 connects via an EVDO-Rev A connection that can be supplemented by WiFi when available. Sprint will try to market the phone as a cheaper alternative than the iPhone, although the difference in price might not be as attractive as Sprint thinks it is. There are two obvious reason to consider the HTC Touch Pro 2: 1/you want to use Sprint's network 2/ there's a keyboard. Check out our iPhone 3GS review too. $350 at Sprint and T-mobile.

Dell Mini 3 versus iPhone photo

August 31st, 2009 23:43

You saw it coming and you've seen the Dell mini 3 specifications already, but that's the first time that we see a good front facing picture of the Dell Mini 3 next to an iPhone. We can't say that Dell did a good job on maximizing the screen size or reducing the bezel thickness, and from what we can tell, the designers did not take the best attributes of the iPhone and the Palm Pre. Some graphic work would also be needed on the set of icons that make it look like a knock off… [via Sina]

NEWS: Apple confirms 9 September event

August 31st, 2009 22:46

New iPods inbound?

Apple has started sending out invites to journalists in the US for its, much rumoured, 9 September iPod launch event.

Titled "It's only rock and roll, but we like it" the event will come two days after the American bank holiday, Labour Day, and fall on the same day of The Beatles: Rock Band launch.

Apple has choosen a downtown San Francisco venue rather than holding a "town hall" meeting at the company's headquarters in Cupertino.

It is widely expected that Apple will launch a range of new iPod's with built in cameras at the event.

Other rumours suggest an Apple iTablet, or The Beatles music collection available in the iTunes store however industy sources claim the iTablet, as it has been dubbed, isn't due until 2010.

The Beatles link isn't likely to happen either considering Apple has used Rolling Stone lyrics for the invite, although conspiracy theorists will probably suggest this is to throw journalists off the scent.

What do you think the company is announcing?

“Urban Dictionary is the slang dictionary you wrote.” In this…

August 31st, 2009 20:55

“Urban Dictionary is the slang dictionary you wrote.”

In this week’s episode of TMI Weekly, Julia cites Dictionary.com’s “Word of the Day” as one of her favorite things you can learn for free.  And here I thought her extensive vocabulary came from her prestigious Georgetown education!

Well, I’m a big fan of Urban Dictionary for some free learnin’.  The quirky definitions crack me up and half of the words I think are real are actually made up.  A lot of the words are computer and tech terms from the last several years which is always so much fun for a technology blogger.

I’ve heard that when Miss Julia doesn’t know a slang word someone uses she fronts (puts on a fake or false personality; not keeping it real; Falsely represents), gets all shady (shifty, sly, suspicious, dark, low, low-profile) and looks it up on her iPhone.  What a sketchball – (shady character)!

Here are some of my recent favorites:

Canniversary: A year from the date on which you were fired from a job.

Cookie Duster: A full mustache capable of dusting the tops of cookies.

Manther: The male version of a cougar; older man who preys on younger women.

Facebrag: To use Facebook as a platform to brag.  Normally about a job, internship, trip, purchase or anything else that nobody really needs to know but you’d like to tell everyone because you’re awesome.

Tech-Flu: A mysterious illness one contracts just after purchasing expensive electrical (usually home entertainment classed) devices.

You can submit your own words and definitions.  Let me know when you get one approved and send me any that you think would be outstanding to highlight on my lifecast!
